The Pavilion of Israel definitely deserves credit for condensing the contents of its theme for Expo Milano 2015 – Fields of Tomorrow – into a simple, accessible layout.
The fields of tomorrow are strikingly visible from the outside of the Pavilion, which presents a vertical field, or a wall cultivated with wheat, rice and corn using an irrigation system with a low environmental impact, typical of the most advanced Israeli agricultural technology. The vertical garden – which thus becomes an essential part of the structure – complies with bio-architectural regulations and is made of 100 percent recycled materials, meeting the Gold LEED international certification standard. The Israeli-patented irrigation system not only saves water consumption, but also reduces the emission of pollutants. The idea of this structure with its strong visual impact is to be able to reach even those visitors who do not enter the exhibition space.
