Berlinis a city which combines glamour and tenacity, history and modernity, and is irresistibly fascinating for anyone who loves culture, architecture, restaurants and night life. In the last ten years it has become a point of reference in fashion, design and music. These characteristics have been focused on and celebrated inGermany’s Pavilion at Expo Milano2015through theWeek dedicated to the Federal State of Berlin. From June 20 to 26, Berlin Week has been structured around four thematic hubs:the economy, with various interactive conferences;the culinary arts, with live presentations and cooking shows;culture, with the inauguration of an exhibition called “25 Years of Reunification”; andmusic, with DJs and performing groups.

 

Bread, fashion and music: the Shows

 

Seen in Vancouver, Sydney, Munich and Hamburg, theEggert Brotherscontinually develop new conceptual cooking show formats centered on restaurant events in Berlin and throughout Germany. For the Berlin Week at Expo Milano 2015, they have interpreted traditional Milanese dishes in a Berlin-orientated manner. During the week they will also focus on sustainable ways of preparing dishes, demonstrating how ingredients can be transformed into superb dishes through passion, skill and creativity.

 

Today’s morning session concluded with a demonstration of thePanono GmbHfuturistic digital cameras, integrated with apps for smartphone and tablet. The base product is the Panono camera: combining 36 individual cameras, it can photograph high definition 360° panoramas, both horizontally and vertically.

 

The afternoon featured a tasting event of Italian bread made byAlfredo Sironi, a success story matured outside Italy. Today,Sironi – Il pane di Milanois an original Italian bakery based in the covered market in Berlin’si Kreuzberg quarter, described as "Berlin’s best bakery" by the "Stil in Berlin" website The story of this bread-making enterprise was told and its products were offered to the public.

 

This was followed by the interactive conference “Berlin – City of Opportunities”, withGebrüder Eggert,Alfredo Sironi,N.N. Ben Weideand the heads of3YourMinD, a spin-off from Berlin’s Technical University which has developed 3D printing systems for industry and architecture.

N.N. Ben Weide presented examples of Berlin’s male fashion concepts, featuringBen WeideandPetra Hoyer, with the classic lines of their"Crash in the Woods”collection.

 

The afternoon’s musical entertainment was offered byDJ Calvin Bosco, one of Berlin’s most renowned DJs, andChris Bekker, who together – backed byOGBproductions – in 2009 notched up a massive success with their single"The Chase".
