On Thursday June 25, Expo Milano 2015 celebrated the National Day of Israel. The official flag-raising ceremony was held and the national anthems were played in the presence of the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Tzipora Hotovely, and the General Commissioner of Expo Milano 2015, Bruno Pasquino. Guests in the audience included ambassador, Naor Gilon, commissioner of the Israel Pavilion,Elazar Cohen and the former mayor of Milan, Letizia Moratti. The day’s rich program of events also included a parade along the Decumano to the rhythm of music, giving spectators a taste of the concerts taking place in the evening in front of the Israel Pavilion.
Hotovely and Pasquino emphasize the close link between Israel and Italy
In her speech, Hotovely stressed the importance of attending Expo Milano 2015 for the State of Israel, highlighting the progress made in terms of agricultural innovation that the Israel Pavilion is proud to illustrate. “Drip irrigation, desalinization and the struggle against wasted water – added Hotovely – are only a few of the technologies we are working on each day. Italy is our second most active European partner in Research and Development. The combination of the top quality Italian manufacturing sector and Israeli innovation are the foundations of our partnership. The visit of our own President Netanyahu in September will provide an opportunity to further this partnership even more”. Pasquino underlined that “the themeFields of tomorrow chosen by Israel shows the Country’s commitment to developing agriculture, through continuous research and with advanced technology”.
