  • Yesterday evening, in the prestigious setting of the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense (Braidense Library), saw the presentation of a volume of selected poems called “Le Opere dell’Uomo, i Frutti della Terra” (The Works of Man, the Fruits of the Earth). For the occasion of Expo Milano 2015,Davide Rampelloconceived the idea of creating a special anthology of poetry on the skills mankind has used over the millennia to procure food, through hunting, fishing, agriculture and livestock breeding.

The anthology has been published byNicola Crocetti, a specialist in publishing poetry, including the monthly magazine “Poesia”. The venture has been sponsored by Montblanc, the luxury fountain pen brand, and printed byGiorgio Lucini, "the artist of typography”, asNicola Crocettidescribes him. At the book’s launch,Giuseppe Sala, Chef Government Commissioner for Expo Milano 2015, welcomed the initiative: “humankind tells its story through signs and words, and this book does just that, creating a unique viewpoint on food through the ages”.

Christian Rauch, CEO of Montblanc, emphasized the company’s commitment to the Universal Exposition in Milan through the depiction of mankind’s origins as recounted inside Pavilion Zero and in the exterior graphics on its northern and southern facades, and also through this magnificent selection of poetry: “Montblanc and its pens are deeply connected with writing, and deeply committed to preserving and sustaining culture in all its forms”.

2,000 copies of the book will be sold through distribution by the publisherCrocetti, and 1,000 will be donated to Italy’s system of Public Libraries.
