On July 26, the
Republic of Cuba celebrated its
National Day. The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in Cuba
Orlando Hernandez Guillén and the General Commissioner of
Expo 2015, Bruno Antonio Pasquino participated in the ceremony.
During the celebrations opening the
National Day of Cuba, reference was made to the long history of the Caribbean Country’s participation in the previous Universal Expositions. General Commissioner
Pasquino talked about the
Cuban Pavilion stating that it “fully mirrors your Country where the Caribbean magic combines with scientific innovation and traditional cuisine identity.” Cuba has been involved in an innovative technological development that allowed rediscovering the connection with nature and resources in a more sustainable twist, aimed at solving the problem of malnutrition, specifically among children. “This is a chance for us to show the commitment and will of our Country to guarantee food for all” stated
Orlando Hernandez Guillén “thus contributing to eradicating hunger in the world.”
A parade later accompanied the delegations along the Decumano to the
Cuba Pavilion, in the
Cocoa and Chocolate Cluster, with the exhibition of 20 dancers from the
Ibu’ Akuaru Latin American Dance Academy of Teresa Castaneda. Thereafter,
Orlando Hernandez Guillén paid a visit to
Palazzo Italia where he signed the
Charter of Milano in front of the authorities. Starting at 7pm, the
Cuba Pavilion animated with the tasting of typical Cuban rum-based cocktails, among them the famous mojito, and with the salsa concert by the Cuban singer
Leo Wilbert and his band.
