The irresistible African dance performance by the Alleluya Band, can be seen every day from 12:00 to 12:30 and from 16:00 pm to 16:30 on the stage of the Angola Pavilion, as one of the many events organized in the African Pavilions inside the Clusters during the week dedicated to Africa taking place from October 22 to 28 in Expo Milano 2015 as part of the open competition “Energy Art and Sustainability”.
The focus of the project
The performance has been inspired by news of the current situations in Bagamoyo and Mtwara, where thousands of people have become IDP (internal displaced people), having lost their houses and property as victims of land grabbing. “The Jumping Village” presents the problems of the consequences of this phenomenon on food security and on the ownership of both land and resources. This country, which is participating in Expo Milano 2015 within the Spices Cluster, is trying to maintain an identity rooted in tribal culture and traditional life cycles, but at the same time, it is also attempting to manage the new development models which must necessarily exist in line with the requirements of the community.
The open competition was promoted with the support of Eni
The week dedicated to Africa commenced on October 22 with a press conference to present the winners of the open competition Energy Art and Sustainability launched last May 18 and closed in October in collaboration with Eni, the company that promotes sustainable development and access to energy in the African countries with a large number of initiatives. Many African Countries participated in the competition, including Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Madagascar, Tanzania, Mozambique-Malawi, Ethiopia, Malawi, Tunisia, Togo and Burkina Faso-Cameroon.
