Also present at the opening ceremony were Chief Government Commissioner for Expo Milano 2015Giuseppe Sala, and Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Food and ForestryMaurizio Martina, who praised the success of Kazakhstan’s Pavilion: “A success demonstrated by the daily queues at its entrance. And we wish you great success also for Astana 2017, where the exploration of the theme of sustainable energy promises to be a crucial starting-point for the future of our planet and a tool for fraternal dialogue.”
United by the idea of peace and security more than by business
After the official visit to theKazakhstan Pavilion by PresidentNursultan Nazarbaevand the Italian PremierMatteo Renzi, the two leaders went to Palazzo Italia for a business meeting together with Kazakhstan’s Minister for Investment and Development,Asset Issekeshev, andRiccardo Monti,the President of ICE, agency for the global promotion and internationalization of Italian businesses, plus 200 representatives of Italian and Kazakhstan companies. HereMatteo Renzideclared that along with the commercial dimension, the principal connection between Italy and Kazakhstan consists of “the idea of universal peace, cultural inclusion and the fight against terrorism. We need to collaboration closely against violent religious extremism”, affirmed Renzi. “We need to make a determined geopolitical effort to defend values such as respect and tolerance.”
