We already have the technologies, now we just need to decide how to use them. This is the message of the conference,“Proteggiamo la nostra terra dall'alto: dai satelliti ai droni"(Protecting our land from above: from satellites to drones),held inExpo Milano 2015on Wednesday, July 1. Organized byFinmeccanica, an Official Global Partner of the Universal Exposition, the meeting presented key applications in the areas of agriculture and the environment for new technologies coming from the aerospace and aviation industry. These technologies can provide invaluable data to help us understand the environment in which we live.

 

Moderated by journalistRoberto Giacobbo, the event was attended byRoberto Battiston(Chairman of ASI),Bernardo De Bernardinis(President of ISPRA),Giovanni De Gennaro(President of Finmeccanica),Mauro Facchini(European Commission),Maurizio Martina(Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry),Mauro Moretti(CEO of Finmeccanica),Giuseppe Morsillo(ESA),Massimo Mucchetti(Chairman of the Committee on Industry, Trade and Tourism for the Senate), andGiuseppe Sala( Commissioner for Expo Milano 2015). Sala took the opportunity to announce that in its first two months, the Universal Exposition has already welcomed six million visitors. Also attending were final year students studying for adegree in Space Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano.
