Bracco Foundation,
Cesare Vaciago, Director of the
Italian Pavilion and
Giuseppe Ruocco, General Director for the Hygiene and Security of Food and Nutrition of the Ministry of Health took part in the event, among others. “The epidemic diffusion of incorrect lifestyles, which today costs no less than 30 billion euros a year in Italy for those related to nutrition, risks spiralling out of control in a few years if we do not make concrete changes – explained
Lucio Lucchin -. The five million obese people present in Italy are countered by three million malnourished people in the hospitals, four million of sarcopenic old people who are almost ignored and six million very poor individuals, including 1.5 million children. These figures signal a need for action and the themes they represent cannot be tackled properly unless we formulate global strategies: we therefore need a multiprofessional involvement from scientists, health professionals, politicians, public administrators and citizens. The right solution is to reduce legitimate biases, joining our forces to provide a shared mediation which aims to provide practical solutions to the issues tackled”.
