The official passing of the baton has begun between the Expo Milano 2015 Universal Exposition and the Astana Expo 2017 Universal Exposition, which will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan from June 10 to September 10, 2017. The General Commissioner of the
Kazakhstan Pavilion,
Anuarbek Mussin, was accompanied by
Azamat Temirbekov of the Expo Astana 2017 Marketing Department and
Galym Aripbayev of the Department of International Relations. On October 7, these three people presented the theme “Future Energy,” which will have three general subjects: guaranteeing access to energy for everyone, producing energy with limited CO2 emissions, and improving energy efficiency.
A sphere in the center
Work on the Astana exposition began in April 2014 and should conclude in December 2016, when the test phase and development of pavilions and thematic areas will begin. The center, not only in a physical sense, will be a sphere – 80 meters in diameter and already known as the largest ever built – which will contain the host country’s pavilion. Surrounding it will be the subject areas and international pavilions.
Goal of 100 participants
As of today, 48 countries have confirmed their participation, and seven international organizations have signed on. The final goal is to have 100 participants, attracting around five million visitors from Kazakhstan and the rest of the world. What will happen at the exposition site after September 11, 2017? The Kazakh government decided that it will become an international financial center with English as the main language.
